Maintenance & Service Scheme of Inverter Control System
1. Importance
Through a lot of field trips, our engineers find that the fault rate of most low-voltage elements will increase gradually after years of operation. Even though aging of components is the main cause for fault of inverter and other parts with electrical parts, there is still a higher ratio of fault caused by operation conditions. Therefore, basic maintenance is required (at least four times a year) for improving the reliability of AC inverter and extending its service life. Moreover, in respect of eliminating unplanned shutdown and off-budget expenses, such maintenance is necessary for the whole inverter control system, especially for the inverter and shall cover the whole service life of AC inverter. If no preventive maintenance is carried out, there will be an increase in fault rate after 5 to 10 years of operations, which will cause greater loss to users. In view of the above, we recommend you to carry out maintenance & service for the control cabinet of inverter.
2. Reasons
The environment and operation conditions of inverter also shall be taken into consideration. Higher ambient temperature, humidity, dirt or overload operation may shorten the service life of internal elements of inverter. Parts fault may result in damages of other transmission components and parts including power semiconductor.
Cooling failure
Inappropriate cooling accelerates the aging of printed circuit board and its parts
Breakdown of cooling fan causes temperature rise
Unbalancing of cooling fan results in increase vibration
Parts aging:
Many printed circuit board contains electrolytic capacitor and part of them is located at a critical position
The estimated service life of capacitor on NGDR is about 90,000h
Replacement of NGDR is one of preventive maintenance measures, which can prevent weak pulses so as to avoid the risk of damages of IGBT parts.
The estimated service life of these capacitors are about 100,000h
The important influence of temperature rise is reduction in service life of capacitor. The reason is evaporation and loss of the electrolyte increase ESR.
Corrosion/ looseness of connection
One belt-type cable shall have at least two connectors, each supporting dozens of separate connection. Therefore, even mild corrosion of connector may result in higher risk of unreliable connection.
Dirt:
Temperature, humidity, condensation, corrosion and corrosive agent will affect the service life of parts and electronic equipment.
Non-cleaning air increases dust inside the inverter (conductive particle)
Conductive dust will cause electric breakdown and short circuit
Poor environment conditions will obviously reduce the service life of equipment
